Main Street packs several venues into a few walkable blocks, so you can start with a drink one place and eat somewhere else without moving the car. That is the single biggest advantage downtown has over the expressway corridor.
Most local bars and grills will seat a large party, but almost none of them will do it well without warning. A quick call is the difference between a table and an hour standing near the door.

Both work, and they are about twenty minutes apart. Broken Arrow's Rose District is compact, walkable, and easier to park in. Tulsa's Blue Dome and Deco districts offer more venues and more variety. For a low-friction evening close to home, Broken Arrow holds up well on its own.
Many of the grill-and-bar spots are full restaurants that serve families through dinner and shift toward a bar crowd later in the evening. Dedicated bars and rooftops are usually adults only or become so after a certain hour. Call ahead if you are bringing kids, particularly after eight.
